Where is Our flower farm?

We grow our flowers in the high arid mountain desert, about one hour from Santa Fe, and 20 minutes from Albuquerque, New Mexico, in a rural area called Sandia Park. We are surrounded by views of the Sandia Mountains and pine trees which makes our homestead and flower farm all the more dreamy.

What’s Growing On Our Flower Farm

Our homestead is dedicated to growing as naturally as possible and focuses on growing trendy favorites as well as heirlooms and native species. Our flower farming is no different. We are dedicated to growing specialty, heirloom, and drought resistant varieties all while producing high quality, natural, fragrant blooms. We had such a good year in 2020, we are already planning on expanding our flower growing area for 2021. We are learning more about intensive planting, flower health and longevity, and sustainable flower farming practices and can’t wait to pass this knowledge on to fellow farmers in the form of classes in the future.

Why Choose Local Flowers?

Besides supporting your local farmers and economies, there are many other good reasons to buy locally grown flowers. Did you know 80% of the cut flowers sold in the USA are imported from other counties? This means the flowers sitting on your dining room table, or kitchen counter, have more than likely traveled thousands of miles, often cut weeks before you buy them, and possibly contain chemicals used to grow them and keep them “fresh”. Like the popularity of the local food movement, conscious flower consumers are becoming aware for the Slow Flower Movement and are choosing both local and American Grown Flowers.

Beauty From Ashes, How COVID Changed Our Journey.

The Meat Man and I have always enjoyed sipping a cup of coffee in a beautiful garden while watching the chickens peck the ground. It was only natural when we started planning out the landscape and market rows for our new homestead that we added flowers for both beauty during events and our own enjoyment.

When COVID-19 hit, our classes and events stopped per state mandate. We quickly began to think of ways to help supplement income on the homestead, I mean we have about 100 fowl, 45 rabbits, and two huge dogs to feed, and we are still working with non-profits - it’s a lot to keep going. There was no time to cry over spilled milk, it was put-up or shut up. Thankfully we discovered flowers as our savings grace.

(to those in mourning )…“to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.:” Isaiah 61:3

We developed relationships with a florist, Florecita Flowers, in town who specializes in elopements, and, thankfully, uses many local flowers for their Blooms A La Carte operation. We also began to create both mason jar arrangements and bouquets to sell at market and in local boutiques.

Our Flower Farm Commitment: Natural, Fresh, & Long Lasting Flowers

The flowers grown on our Homestead and flower farm are harvested fresh each morning and typically offered for sale to you the same day. When you get our flowers home, be sure to provide our flowers with fresh, clean, water every day and cut the stems every other day insuring they last about a week in the vase.

We rarely use even organic pesticides and choose to grow our flowers and everything as natural as possible on our homestead and flower farm. You will occasionally even find happy critters like lady bugs on our blooms in your bouquets. We have a beehive on the property and take protecting their habit and that of other pollinators seriously.

As the seasons change so do the blooms being offered from our New Mexico flower farm.  Our season begins with coveted, and more special, ranunculus in late winter, then moves onto spring favorites like daffodils and tulips, then ends with popular colors of sunflowers and gorgeous dahlias in the fall, with all sorts of colorful blooms in between. Our flowers provide beauty for events, weddings, gifts and every day cheer.
